Re: La Celso
Hypothetical scenario but is there any chance that some teams who feel they’ve been unfairly targeted could end up taking the PGMOL or FA to court over it?

Imagine the outcome of games and seasons being decided in a court room!

What team with shit luck could you imagine that happening to....

Re: La Celso
They tried to say DeBruyne was protecting his face so thats ok
(a) His face is hardly worth protecting
(b) His hands were to the side of his head when hit so stopped the ball travelling towards the goal

Both were pens

Re: La Celso
Not only is VAR a disaster but it could be considered corrupt, seems to work well for the big teams. What would have happened if it had been a goal decision rather than a clear red card?

I used to rate Michael Oliver but now wonder if he isn't running scared of VAR. He was far too lenient in match where Anderson was injured, had he shown deserved yellow cards earlier in the game the injury may never have happened.

Re: La Celso
How VAR is inconsistent and perhaps favours certain teams was perfectly underlined in the Leicester game.

De Bruyne practically catches the ball in the area - no pen. Balls strikes a Leicester player’s arm with his back turned - clear pen.

The De Bruyne decision alone makes a mockery of the whole thing.

Re: La Celso
I tend think that every midfield is better with a spiky Argie who can put his foot in and pass the ball. Lanzini passes it but that's about it.

Just watching highlights of the Bournemouth game.
I’d like to feel sorry for them for getting dudded by VAR but must admit my first thought was ... Bobby Madley

That McNeill is getting better and better. Will surely be at a big team next season

Re: La Celso
VAR is just another way our incompetent officials have found to ruin the game.

Not being able to celebrate a goal going in for a few minutes is a disaster. Making up idiotic rulings about handball in the build up to goals when there was no requirement, ruling offside by millimetres that couldn’t be detected with the naked eye, not requiring the referee to review the incident on screen, and finally the apparent unwillingness to overrule the referee

You couldn’t make it up how inept it all is. And it’s policed by the very people who shouldn’t be involved in any of it. No wonder it’s a clusterfuck

Sven Roeder 9:51 Sun Feb 23
Re: La Celso
Yes, it was still an incompetent bewildering decision with no excuse but do think having the referee going to the screen would improve things.
Not heard that they are having these sort of issues in other European leagues
Think they use the screens. And have competent referees.

Have said before the ref needs to be going to look at the pitch side monitors.
Some bloke in a bunker is detached from the game.

Eh?? I reckon the person making the decisions is seeing exactly what 99.99% of the people are seeing... ie on a screen... none of them are detached enough to saying it;s a blatant red card decision... it's just a complete and utter fuck up from top to bottom

Re: La Celso
The Leicester v Man City game proved what I thought all along....VAR is there only for the big clubs De Bruyne handles the ball no penalty the Leicester man (sorry can't remember his name) handles the ball penalty given. Don't know why they bother checking we all know it's a forgone conclusion.

HairyHammer 1:48 Sun Feb 23
Re: La Celso
Thought var would be great but sadly it creates more obstacles to the flow of the game than I thought it would, and it is quite often and stupidly wrong too I would say 20% of the time too which is not that different to the refs decisions before.

Re: La Celso
Once you get beyond a certain ratio of idiots amongst your officials, giving them more tools to demonstrate their idiocy just makes things worse.

We're well beyond that ratio.

Re: La Celso
VAR is shit and has ruined football. And I’m not just saying that because we have been stitched up so many times.

I watched the Chelsea-Man Utd game last week and it was a farce. They pick and choose what they want to review and don’t always look at the right angles. The game has managed to become even more corrupt.

If people enjoy scrutinising every goal for a reason to disallow it, then good luck to them. I’m out.

Only just seen this and I dont think its malicious at all, just clumsy.

Letter of the law I guess it's a red and the fellas leg should show the ref that he's been caught badly.

Re: La Celso

They were talking about this on BT Sport today.
Ref's (over here) are told not to use the monitors if at all possible. Even Uefa has said we should be using the monitors.

Don't forget the refs are told not to check replays on their monitors. Why? You would think the media would be all over that.

I thought that was changed a couple of months back and now refs are encouraged to view the monitor. It's just that they don't for some reason.

Re: La Celso
VAR is a sticking plaster applied to a coronary. It's an attempt at a Charlie Cheapo solution to the problem of poor referees.

The correct answer is to train them up to the required level of competency, but so scared are the authorities that one or two might fuck off to pastures new once having been trained, they refuse to invest in people, opting, instead for technology; they know they can sell the VAR kit on ebay if it doesn't work out.

El Scorchio 9:48 Sat Feb 22
Re: La Celso
100% correct Sven.

It’s all the same boys club sticking together.

And blatant mistakes and misjudgments are still getting through, and there’s still a big club bias in some of the reviewed decisions regardless of what people might claim.

Kite 9:48 Sat Feb 22
Re: La Celso
The authority's never wanted VAR in the first place, what better way to get rid of it by turning it into a circus.
If there is any truth in the authorities wanting a say who wins a game then a well run VAR takes that away.

How on earth can they get this wrong.

Don't forget the refs are told not to check replays on their monitors. Why? You would think the media would be all over that.
